Former Sepultura drummer Eloy Casagrande has broken his silence following his official induction into the ranks of Slipknot. Casagrande, who was revealed as the newest member of Slipknot on April 30, took to social media to express his gratitude and anticipation for this new chapter.

In a statement shared alongside a photo of himself wearing Slipknot’s iconic mask and outfit, Casagrande reflected on the significance of this moment. He stated : “It’s an exciting time. Unthinkable until now. There is nothing to lose, nothing to gain. You just have to live. We are one.”

Expressing his gratitude for the trust placed in him by Slipknot, Casagrande thanked Slipknot’s dedicated fans, affectionately known as “maggots,” as well as fans around the world. He concluded his message with a promise: “See you on the road. ‘Here comes more Pain’.”

Casagrande’s big debut with Slipknot took place at the Sick New World festival in Las Vegas, Nevada, where the group headlined on April 27. This was Slipknot’s second performance with Casagrande, following an intimate concert at Pappy + Harriet’s in Pioneertown, California on April 25.

Slipknot notably opted for a traditional look for both performances, revisiting their red jumpsuits from 1999 and incorporating elements of their early masks into their modern versions. This aesthetic choice is part of Slipknot’s 25th anniversary celebration this year.

Casagrande’s arrival in Slipknot follows the departure of Jay Weinberg last November. Slipknot hinted at a new drummer almost two months ago, sparking speculation among fans. The band clarified that Weinberg’s departure was a creative decision, while Weinberg felt “heartbroken and blindsided” by his firing.

Since leaving Slipknot, Weinberg has joined Suicidal Tendencies and Infectious Grooves.
