Céline Dion spoke, during the last episode of Vogue’s Life in Looks show, about the spectacular dress and no less imposing headdress that she wore during her marriage to René Angélil, in 1994. She also mentioned an astonishing incident.

For Céline Dion, nothing was too good, said her husband René Angélil.

During the latest episode of Vogue’s Life in Looks, the Canadian singer reflected on the dress she wore during her 1994 wedding to her husband, René Angélil, who died in 2016.

“Speechless,” said Celine Dion, immediately after seeing a photo of her at her wedding.

Her wedding dress, designed by Mirella and Steve Gentile, was monumental. With volumes, lace and crystals as well as a 6 meter long train. It all represented 1000 hours of work. And she wore a tiara encrusted with 2000 Swarovski crystals, which no one will soon forget. Especially not her!

“The dress couldn’t have been big enough. I could have had three times the size on my head,” the 56-year-old singer continued, referring to the more than three kilo headdress. “I could have had six different dresses that night, because he (René) was and still is a wonderful human being,” she added.

The tiara she wore that day “felt like it was sewn, but when you’re happy, there’s no weight, no problem, no pain,” she commented.

The Think Twice singer recalled rehearsing her walk down the aisle in her full ensemble in a ballroom with wooden floors. However, she still encountered difficulties on D-Day, because the floor of the Notre-Dame basilica in Montreal was covered with carpet. “Will I succeed in reaching my future husband?”, the megastar then asked herself.

Celine Dion also explained that even though she hadn’t paid attention to it during the ceremony and party, the weight of the tiara had indeed taken its toll.

When she took it off at the end of the evening, she discovered “a cut on her head because the pressure was too strong.”

“The next day, I wake up, I look in the mirror, I have the size of an egg in the middle of my forehead,” she said. I looked at my husband and told him: it’s too late now, we’re married,” she says with humor.

The My Heart Will Go On singer added that she had to take antibiotics for “about three weeks” to treat the injury.

Celine Dion will recount her fight against illness in a documentary

Diagnosed in the fall of 2022 with a rare neurological pathology, stiff person syndrome (SPR), the soon-to-be 56-year-old Quebec megastar confided that overcoming this autoimmune disease “was one of the most difficult experiences of his life”.
