Activists work to revive APAL radio

There APAL radio (Asé Pléré An Nou Lité) could soon be broadcasting again on the airwaves!

Last July, the station’s managers announced in a press release the end of broadcasting and all programs in Martinique as of August 1st.

Nearly two months later, the members of the association have undertaken to relaunch this internationally recognized Martinican activist radio station.

This Monday (September 23), at the Yvon Roisier room in the Canal Cocotte area in Ducos, the various members involved took stock of the progress of the process and presented a furnished studio to be able to launch broadcasts.

On the internet at first

They will be, initially, broadcast on the Internet.

To do this, around thirty volunteers and outsiders are working to ensure the success of this media relaunch.

And, in order to carry out their bet, the members still need the material, human and financial support of the Martinican population to drive this recovery.

We need support because hundreds of people stop us in the street, stopped us when they heard the announcement. They will say: But no, “nou pé pa lésé sa fet, fok nou fé an bagay”. They offer us help. So now that we have our foot in the stirrup. It is time to help materially, financially. I can see that someone who has a computer company offers a nice computer to the radio and that the radio promotes it. But, in all areas, we need help since it is a collective work of the Martinican people. The Apal Jik Anbout radio station has a specific account for financial support. These are people I care a lot about because of what they have already accomplished before, in Martinique, and the know-how and education they have brought me politically, historically. For me, it allows me to improve and continue to work on my painting and especially to show that young people can also take part in radio. They can simply help. Art can be significant of progress, of modernity, of any movement. Through this fresco, I wanted to talk about the history of the archives of “Asé Pléré An Nou Lité” and especially of the unity of the cheesemaker who represents Martinique, the unity of the population. We are one, just with the different ethnic groups who arrived in Martinique. This is what creates the Martinican people, this is what the Martinican people are there.
