For many French people – and foreigners – Gojira is of course the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games, an extraordinary performance on the facade of the Conciergerie in the company of a decapitated Marie-Antoinette and especially the opera singer Marina Viotti. Shivers, lots of them, a name shazamed like never before and a song, Mea Culpa (Ah! It will be fine), ranked number one on the hard rock charts in the United States. Enough to give you wings!

But Gojira is much more than a live performance at the Olympic Games, as fiery and remarkable as it may be, it is a metal band from Landes formed in 1996 under the name Godzilla and renamed Gojira in 2001. To its credit, 7 studio albums, including the latest, Fortitudewill be ranked among the tops in Europe and America, hundreds of concerts throughout France, but also abroad, international recognition that does not date from today, cascading awards and constant involvement in ecology.

In short, you will have understood, Gojira was not born yesterday in Paris on a certain July 26, 2024.

And all metal lovers still remember their performances at Hellfest in 2019 and especially in 2022, closing the first weekend on MainStage 1.

And the story, of course, doesn’t end there. The group has just announced on its social networks a French tour worthy of the name! 13 exceptional dates throughout France (or almost…). And added: “We are going to pull out all the stops for an immersive and explosive experience. A new step in the history of the group…”.
