Florent Pagny spoke about his beginnings in the capital, on the podcast “Addiktion”. Encouraged by his parents, he left his native Burgundy for Paris, completely alone at the age of… 15.
He is one of the most popular singers on the French scene, but Florent Pagny started his career… in cinema. The 62-year-old star looked back on his beginnings in the artistic world. But did you know that in order to break through, Azucena Caamaño’s husband dropped out of school early?
Florent Pagny “hyperactive” and alone in Paris at 15: “I didn’t have an adolescence”
He remembers it as if it were yesterday. Florent Pagny was only 15 years old when he left his native Burgundy for the capital. A 360-degree turn for the artist. With nostalgia, Florent Pagny confided in us about his difficult beginnings in Paris, at the podcast microphone Addiction of France Televisions. Her hyperactivity influenced his adolescence… to the point that he found himself totally alone. “I was hyperactive, but so hyperactive that at 15, I was already alone in Paris. I didn’t have an adolescence. I went from childhood to adulthood because when you’re all alone at 15 in Paris, you have to start watching where you’re walking.”
How did a 15-year-old boy end up alone in the middle of Paris? Florent Pagny recounted: “I arrived at the Salvation Army with my parents, so I took a room at the Salvation Army because there was a minimum of supervision, and then I tried my hand at theatre. And I was waiting to see the singing. I didn’t like theatre, I only did one day and I gave up.” Florent Pagny then decided to reorient himself: “Then, I went to a conservatory. It went pretty well because they had identified my strong point and then I worked on that strong point very early on.”

The rest is history. Florent Pagny began to have success a few years later, at the age of 27, with his first title Anythingin 1987. “Iand was gathering the life until the day I was able to sing what I wanted to sing”he told Addiction.
The coach of season 14 of The Voice on TF1 had made confidences about his clan in his biography Pagny by Florent. “My mother is rather hyperactive. She was always the one who moved everyone, who moved all the time. We were always nomads thanks to her. And my father always followed a little. He tended to be a little like that.” So hyperactivity runs in the family!
