Documentary: “Bourige” brings together supporters at the L’Arvor cinema

Wednesday, September 4th, was screened for the first time at the Arvor “Bourige, une empreinte Rouge et Noir”, a documentary produced by Stade Rennais for the departure of Benjamin Bourigeaud. SRO was there, and tells you all about it.

It’s not that common to enter a cinema filled with football jerseys. On Wednesday, however, there was almost nothing else in room 1 of the Arvor, which is used to hosting the productions of Stade Rennais. This was once again the case for the premiere of “Bourige, une empreinte Rouge et Noir”. Co-directed by Aurélien Le Beau, Melvin Hamon, Thomas Gilbert and Antoine Biard, this 40-minute documentary follows the now ex-player of the Breton club at Roazhon Park, before his transfer to Qatar this summer.

“Stade Rennais wanted to pay tribute to its iconic number 14. The idea was formed the day after the agreement between the two clubs.” explains Antoine Biard, communications director of the SRFC. Produced in just 2.5 hours, the documentary is for the latter “quite authentic and raw, deliberately. It represents the character quite well. We talk a lot about the man, through a stroll in the stadium that he knows very well.” The format and the shots may be surprising at first, but you quickly get carried away as the minutes go by, at a time when immersive content is enjoying a certain success.

“A very authentic, very raw film”

Among the dozens of supporters who came to fill the room, Gwendal appreciated “A very authentic, very raw film. I loved the style of the film. We see the human being behind a simple player”. His friend Matheo agrees, “40 minutes is good, we had time to see all the moments of Benjamin Bourigeaud’s career.”

Both came with Thomas, satisfied but slightly frustrated. “We had some anecdotes, some strong moments. It’s a shame that we didn’t go into more detail, I think there are so many things to tell, that he has so much to tell us. But we really had a good time.”

Viewers will still be able to form their own opinion for several more screenings, as the documentary will be screened until September 10. “We thought it was a good opportunity for the Rennes public to experience a moment of collective sharing”underlines Antoine Biard. There were people of all ages in the ranks of the Arvor hall, as in the stands. Matheo, Gwendal and Thomas are all 20 years old, and have been season ticket holders for several years. They were 13 when Benjamin Bourigeaud joined Stade Rennais. Enough to give an idea of the mark left by their ” legend “ at Stade Rennes.
