Swiatek, a five-time Grand Slam winner, defeated the American in the second set, losing 6-1 in 27 minutes, before conceding the last set in the super tie-break despite having a match point. Beaten 5-7 6-1 7-6 (10/8), the 2nd player in the world therefore remains stuck at the semi-final stage in Melbourne, already reached in 2022 but never exceeded. Keys (29 years old) for her part offers a 2nd “major” final, 7 and a half years after her defeat against Sloane Stephens at the 2017 US Open.
