A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, Ryan Gosling would star in “Star Wars.” Except that the dream could come true very soon.
The Hollywood star is in negotiations to headline the next part of the saga, according to information from the well-informed Hollywood Reporter. The presence of the Canadian actor in the casting would even be a priority for Lucasfilm, the company behind “Star Wars”.
A standalone film from the saga
Although little information has leaked – we still don’t know what role the 44-year-old actor could play, nor in what era of the saga the feature film will take place – the script has been written for more than a year by Shawn Levy, the director of “Deadpool & Wolverine” and the screenwriter Jonathan Tropper. A start of filming is even mentioned for next fall.
-Still according to Hollywood Reporter, one thing is certain, the film will not be part of the history of Luke Skywalker’s family, and should function somewhat autonomously, like the feature film currently being prepared with Daisy Ridley , set 15 years after “The Rise of Skywalker”.
Lucasfilm intends to ride on the relative success of each of its products. In December, the production company just finished filming “The Mandalorian & Grogu”, a spin-off film from the series “The Mandalorian”, directed by Jon Favreau, and expected in theaters on May 22, 2026. Another feature film produced by James Mangold must take shape and take place 25,000 years in the past to tell the story of the first Jedi.
