It is rumored that Kevin Feige is about to introduce two new cult teams from the Marvel universe into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The icing on the cake is that these two teams could benefit from two animated films.
Marvel towards animation?
If something is missing MCU, these are animated films. Spider-Man : Into the Spider-Verseand its sequels, nevertheless proved that superhero movies in the animated format work perfectly. These two animated films around Miles Morales are absolute masterpieces of the genre, and remind us that Marvel Studios should clearly look into this. Especially since Both Marvel and Pixar are owned by Disney. A crossover between the two firms is therefore easily possible. However, the bridge between these two Hollywood giants has never been proposed before.
The closest thing to a mash-up like this is the feature film The New Heroes. This animated film released in 2014 adapts a little-known team from the Marvel universe. But the film does not completely get to the end of things and does not never seems to fully assume its connection with the Marvel universe.
But for some time now, Marvel Studios finally turns to animation. The success of the series What If… ? reassured Kevin Feige who is finally starting to look more into this issue. In a few days, Disney+ subscribers will be able to discover the new Marvel Studios animated series: Your faithful servant Spider-Man. Other animated projects are expected soon like Marvel Zombies et Eyes of Wakanda.
We can therefore hope that Marvel Studios will finally offer an animated film to its viewers. Especially since the genre is currently very fashionable. Several great sagas like Transformers et Lord of the Rings offered their own animated opus with Transformers: The Beginning et The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim. Even DC has offered several animated productions, from Batman Ninjato the series Harley Quinn passing through Creature Commandos. So it might be time for Marvel Studios to catch up.
-Two new teams?
According to the scooper Daniel Richtman, two new teams could join the MCU. Indeed, according to the influencer, Power Pack et Kid Kaiju are among the characters that Kevin Feige would like to introduce into the MCU.
Power Pack is a team of superheroes from the Marvel universe, composed mainly of children. Created by Louise Simonson and June Brigman, this team first appeared in Power Pack #1 in 1984. This comic is unique because it focuses on child heroes while tackling sometimes deep and mature themes. Power Pack consists of the four Power children, brothers and sisters of the same familywho gain superpowers after an encounter with an alien race called the Kymellians. So Alex can manipulate gravityJulie to the ability to fly at high speed, Jack can manipulate your body density to become a gaseous vapor, a cloud or compress into a dense and heavy object, and finally Katie has the power to absorb energy and redistribute it in the form of powerful bursts of energy. Franklin Richards also joined them on their adventures. An animated film Power Pack would therefore be a good way to introduce the figure of Franklin Richards into the MCU.
As for Kid Kaijuhe is a young boy who has the unique ability to summon and control giant monsters like kaijus. Created in 2016 by Greg Pak and Frank Cho, Kei Kawade is a young boy of Japanese-American descent. By drawing a monster, Kei can make it appear in the real world. His drawings are not limited to existing monsters in the Marvel universe. He can also design new kaiju, which then come alive and obey his commands.
Thus, according to Daniel Richtman, there would therefore be two new projects in Kevin Feige’s drawers. Two animated films. The first on Power Pack and the second on Kid Kaiju. We hope that this rumor could take shape, and thus allow the MCU to diversify and get a foothold in the world of animation.
