two young pilots lost in the fog rescued by the Air Force

It was an unusual operation which took place in the skies of Paris, Sunday January 19, 2025. Around midday, the Air and Space Force deployed significant aerial resources after being alerted of the distress of two passenger planeslost in the capital's sky due to thick fog. They had taken off from Pontarlier and were heading to Reims.

“Under the command of the air operations and air defense planning and control center (CAPCODA), the fighter and air crews helicopter coordinated to join the aircraft,” the Air Force explained on LinkedIn.

And bursts Band mirage 2000-5 and a Fennec then left their bases to accompany the two pilots to “a practicable landing field”.

Despite difficult weather conditions, the apprentice pilots, not qualified for instrument flying, were located. After an hour of intervention, they were able land without a hitchguided by the fighter pilot of the burst.
