Out injured against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday in the Bundesliga, French striker from Bayer Leverkusen Martin Terrier suffers from a ruptured Achilles tendon. The German club confirmed this Sunday that the former Rennais, definitely not varnished with physical problems, will not play again this season.
Bad luck. Another serious injury and another setback for Martin Terrier. What the French striker feared on Saturday evening was confirmed this Sunday by his club, Bayer Leverkusen. Having left the field after planting his foot in a hole in the 6th minute of play against Borussia Mönchengladbach (3-1) on Saturday in the Bundesliga, the former Rennais suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon. His season, his first in Germany, is already over, his club announces. Martin Terrier will have surgery on Monday before starting his rehabilitation work.
Four serious injuries in two years
The international Espoirs (27 years old) is really not spared from injuries. Before suffering a thigh muscle injury in October and then a forearm fracture a month later, he had suffered a serious knee injury with Stade Rennais in 2023, missing almost nine months competition.
“It’s a hard blow for Martin but also for us,” regretted Simon Rolfes, the sporting director of Bayer, in a press release. “But we will support him as much as we can. The same thing happened to Charles Aranguiz and after his injury he became a top player at Bayer.”
-Arriving last summer at the German champions for a transfer of 20 million euros, Martin Terrier played 20 matches. He scored two goals and provided two assists in all competitions.
