A scene of incredible violence. On November 2, 2021, a young 26-year-old police officer assigned to the Ile-de-France network brigade (BRF) returned home after a day of work. Around 10:30 p.m., at the Gare du Nord in Paris, he boarded a line H train. A few minutes later, the train stopped at Ermont, in Val-d'Oise. It was then that four individuals – who had already just attacked a passenger – approached the police officer to ask him for a cigarette. Threats were quickly thrown at him, according to the testimony of the police officer, cited by Le Figaro : “We know you’re a cop! We're going to smash you, we're going to kill you! We know where you live in 95”.

“He saw himself die”
The four individuals will then be arrested by the municipal police and the gendarmerie. Three are adults and born in Guadeloupe: Lorenz M., 19-year-old cook, Wesley B., 23-year-old cook, father of one child and known for drug trafficking and use, and Meddy M., unemployed 25-year-old, disabled and father of a daughter. The latter will appear for failure to assist a person in danger. A fourth suspect is 16 years old. He is already known by the courts for violence in a school establishment.
More than three years after the events, the police officer remains very psychologically affected. The civil servant left Paris with his partner to continue his job in the provinces. At FigaroMe Louis Cailliez, his lawyer, explains: “My client is determined to obtain justice and has high expectations from this trial. He saw himself die. He's a strong man, but part of his life was stolen from him.”.
The trial will take place behind closed doors before a juvenile court due to the minority of one of the accused at the time of the attack. He risks 20 years in prison if the minority excuse is not lifted. The other two main defendants face life imprisonment. The trial opens this Monday, January 20 and the verdict will be delivered on Friday, January 24.
