This Monday, January 13 at 9:10 p.m., France 3 gives way to the cinema with the broadcast of the film The young lovers. Starring Fanny Ardant and Melvil Poupaud, the feature film tells the story of Shauna, 70, who put her love life aside to fully experience her independence. But one day, the retiree is disturbed by the presence of a certain Pierre, aged 45. But now, an unmanageable situation arises: Pierre is married and he is the father of a family…
The young lovers : Fanny Ardant plays Shauna perfectly
In this film full of good feelings, Fanny Ardant perfectly embodies the main character. However, originally, Shauna was Irish and was to be played by Vanessa Redgrave. But as the film was written, director Carine Tardieu realized that she needed an actress “flamboyant” and who is not afraid of the passage of time. “To put it bluntly, it was unimaginable for me to offer the role to a woman who had had cosmetic surgery. I don't blame those who give in to temptation because I know how strong the pressure is. It was my casting director who told me about Fanny Ardant,” she explained toAllocinated.
The young lovers : the drama at the origin of the film
With nearly 400,000 spectators at the box office in 2022, The young lovers won over part of the press. However, this feature film almost never saw the light of day. Indeed, at the origin of the project, Solveig Anspach was supposed to direct the film but she died in 2015. It was ultimately her friend Carine Tardieu who took over and the two women met in 2013 at the Rome festival. This is when the genesis of the film The young lovers started. “One day, I was working in a bistro, and in the café opposite, I saw Sólveig with his co-writer Agnès de Sacy and their producer, Patrick Sobelman. I went to greet them, and I knew afterwards that it was their first work meeting around Young Lovers. A year later, Sólveig died. Carine Tardieu told our colleagues.
