Military service may already take two years for all young Israelis, but the army targets them from childhood. Israeli director Guy David shows in a poignant documentary, Innocencehow the army’s communication and awareness operations aim to incorporate youth into a militaristic and confrontational environment:
“Nothing touches me more than the sensitivity of a child when he discovers the world, and nothing hurts me more than seeing him get crushed. Israel is not a country that values innocence. His militarized identity demands breaking and distorting the soft lines of childhood. This engagement in violence claims many lives, but there is also a hidden tragedy: the breakdown of parenthood. All war is based on the betrayal of parents towards their children. But in a militarized society, even the freest parents are doomed to be unable to protect the minds of their children. »
The Strasbourg association Culture de Palestine is organizing, with the support of around ten partners, a screening of this documentary on Wednesday January 15 at 8 p.m. at the Le Cosmos cinema, followed by a meeting with Guy Davidi. The Israeli director co-signed Five broken camerasa documentary on the memory of the occupation with Palestinian director Emad Burnat.
