A man dressed as “Spider-Man” spreads joy in Saguenay

If you think you’ve seen Spider-Man in the streets of Saguenay or the surrounding area, you didn’t dream of it. A very singular being walks around dressed in the colors of the superhero.

For three years now, the superhero has been roaming the city of Saguenay, dressed in red and blue, to the delight of young and old alike.

“My idol is Spider-Man. At one point I was watching Spider-Man running around in the comics and I had a genius idea. I got myself a Spider-Man costume and put it on. I started running in the street,” the superhero, who wishes to preserve his anonymity, told TVA Nouvelles.

The running enthusiast, who has 14 marathons under his belt, covers around ten kilometers every day. He also claims to have already run 28 kilometers without stopping in his spider-man costume. He now has around thirty costumes.

“I had to try on a lot of costumes before I found the right costume. It goes with the temperature too. Whether it’s minus 30 or plus 30, I’m able to put on my suit, I’m able to run outside,” he explains.

After being questioned by a mother who wanted to know if Spider-Man could go to his little girl’s party, the superhero began participating in many children’s parties which he calls his “daily missions”. He leads between five and eight per weekend.

“In one day, I can be in La Baie, then in Alma, then in Roberval and return to Chicoutimi.”

The man does all this on a voluntary basis, in addition to having a full-time job.

“When I see the children smiling, having happiness, having fun, I can tell you that at the end of the day, it’s an incredible feeling of happiness. This is what motivates me to continue,” he says.
