“A Little Confusion”, the film that came out of a fertility clinic

The writer Marcos Bucay He was with his wife in a fertility clinicwhen he saw the laboratory technician enter, whose face told him that he could make a mistake at some point and cause a big problem.

The place, says the creative, was half old and had a certain eighties look, so his authorial imagination began to fly, which has given him authorship in the series “Club de Cuervos” and “How to survive single.”

“When we were having problems having my first daughter, we decided to have treatment and we went to a specialist doctor and his clinic was kind of old. Then when I saw the laboratory technician I said 'this guy has the face of someone who's going to water' and then my mind did its thing,” he remembers.

“I thought what would happen if there was a conflict between super cool characters and other more sleazy characters, as they were told, what would happen if they went through that situation,” adds Bucay.

And so was the genesis of “a little confusion”, a film that arrives this Christmas in Mexican commercial theaters, starring Ana de la Reguera, Juanpa Zurita, Vico Escorcia and Cristo Fernández.

In the story, Zurita and Vico are an upper class couple and Ana and Cristo are middle class. Both couples want to have a child, they go to a specialized center, but there is a mistake during insemination, so each couple is actually waiting for the other's real baby.

“Always based on real-life stories, genuine things come out,” says Bucay, “they start out mature, but eventually they must learn to listen to and understand another version of life.”

For the female dialogues, Bucay discussed ideas with his wife. The phases through which her pregnancy went through served to structure the script.

“She helps me give it that more realistic touch. Whenever a man writes things about women, they notice,” he states.

“A Little Confusion” is directed by Ariel Winograd (“And what is he like?” and “Everyone falls”), who in a month and a half, since he accepted, prepared everything for filming.

“Everything started from a good script. This approached comedy in a series way, part of a great drama that the characters are experiencing and from there the comedy arises. In addition, it has a topic that raises a debate, which is thinking about what to do in something like this,” he considers.

“The important thing is that from the look they already gave the character, that it was seen and people said yes, it's them,” says the director.
