This afternoon we were surprised by news that confirms several rumors that had been heard in the world in recent months. The Amazing Spiderman will be relaunched in April 2025 with a new number 1 that will have as scriptwriter Joe Kelly and classical cartoonists John Romita Jr. now our compatriot Pepe Larraz.
Kelly “returns” to the net thrower without time to have said goodbye because he is taking care of what was supposed to be a transitional stage called Spiderman’s 8 deaths and that it should serve as a transition between the stage of Zeb Wells and the relaunch of the series. Well, the editor Nick Lowe stated that they were looking forward to continuing working with Kelly and they are very happy with the work he is doing with the character and the ideas he has for the future.
Kelly states that “although this is a new #1, I don’t think it’s a new beginning per se. “I am writing the next chapter in the story of one of the most important people in the world, and I am very fortunate to follow in the footsteps of the colleagues who came before me.” Kelly catches Peter Parker in a complicated personal situation (If you want small spoilers you just have to read the press release attached below) and being attacked by an enemy, classic? of the wall-crawler who operates from the shadows.
Of course, what catches our attention the most is the presence of Pepe Larraz in the series. One more step in his meteoric career and one that consolidates him, in case anyone still had doubts, as one of the most important authors of the House of Ideas. In the same statement Larraz He states that “the most important part of Spider-Man that I wanted to accurately represent was Peter. Of course, I know what I’m talking about when it comes to drawing a believable New York, I’ve taken hundreds of photos of details of the city for reference; or how I have focused on drawing the rhythm of Spidey’s movement and his speed in a way that is more similar to animation than a comic. But I think Spider-Man comics work because we care about Peter and his world, so that’s been my main goal: Draw a Peter that you instantly recognize and empathize with.

«That’s why we tapped him for The 8 Deaths of Spider-Man. He was doing so great, so when he asked if we’d consider him for being the ongoing writer, I felt like I won the lottery.
