the saga Karate Kid will soon make its return to the big screen with Karate Kid: Legends. The first trailer has just dropped, and teases the return of the great Jackie Chan.

The license Karate Kid is a cinematic saga that began in 1984 and has accompanied several generations over time. Blending drama, martial arts and life lessons, it explores universal themes such as perseverance, discipline and surpassing oneself. The first feature film was released in 1984 under the direction of John G. Avildsen. At the time, the immense Jackie Chan is not yet part of the equation. The story follows Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), a teenager recently arrived in California, who is being bullied by students at a local dojo, the Cobra Kai. But it is on the small screen that Karate Kid truly finds a new life. In 2018, the license returns to the small screen through a series Netflix titled Cobra Kai. The series takes place more than 30 years after the events of the first film. We find there Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), son ancien rival. Cobra Kai has been acclaimed for its nostalgia and ability to captivate a new audience. It is filled with references to the original films and popularized supporting characters like John Kreese or Terry Silver.

Karate Kid: Legends will tell the story of Li Fonga Chinese teenager who moves to New York. The latter begins to study martial arts under the tutelage of Mr. Han and Daniel LaRusso. This collaboration between the two mentors establishes a connection between the two universes, suggesting that the 2010 film and the original series coexist in the same narrative continuum.
