Nosferatu has sucked the acting blood of Bill Skarsgård, who “doesn’t want to play something so evil again”

Bill Skarsgård will do his best with Robert Eggers’ film, but he has dedicated himself so much to his role in Nosferatu who is physically and mentally exhausted.

Bill Skarsgård is one of those actors who have made a name for themselves thanks to their bizarre on-screen transformations. This year, without going any further, we saw him become the new iteration of Eric Draven in the remake of The crowand his interpretation of Pennywise the clown in the most recent versions of It.

But his most complex work in this field is yet to reach movie theaters throughout Spain with Nosferatuthe movie Robert Eggers (The witch, The man of the north) that will turn the Swedish actor into the infamous Count Orlok.

Nosferatu is the remake of the 1922 silent film horror classic, directed by F.W. Murnau. The tremendously dark key of the story, based on the work of Bram Stoker, has raised the bar for Bill Skarsgård.

So much so that, despite the actor’s notable experience, Bill Skarsgård assures that he finished filming Nosferatu wishing not to repeat a role so intensely evil and complex.

Bill Skarsgård has paid a price to shine in Nosferatu

He has been chatting with the magazine Empirewhere Bill Skarsgård has been able to talk at ease about the sinister vampire that is about to cause a sensation in Spanish theaters:

When we finished, I thought, ‘I never want to play something so evil again. And I never want to get prosthetics again.’ Bringing Orlok to life really wore me down, he’s a hidden sorcerer, and it took a toll on me in terms of trying to inhabit that space.

The voice was what I worked on the most. For a month and a half before filming, I didn’t do much except film myself, and on set I was still doing these exercises. I sound a bit like Mongolian guttural singing. It’s crazy“.

Bill Skarsgård worked with an opera singer who helped him lower his voice a whole octave, making his presence in Robert Eggers’ film much more impactful when he speaks.

Nosferatu arrives in Spanish cinemas on December 25, 2024with Bill Skarsgård more than willing to give you nightmares this Christmas.
