Asterix & Obelix: The Battle of the Leaders Netflix version and Alain Chabat is finally revealed in a trailer.
Alain Chabat and Asterixthis is of course obvious since Cleopatra Missiononce again and always the best adaptation of the universe of Uderzo and Goscinny. For all those who have struggled to recover from the horrific Middle Kingdom by Guillaume Canet, the die-hard Les Nuls has decided to put his laurel crown on the line again, this time by adapting the album into an animated series The Battle of the Leaders.
Released in 1966, this seventh volume of Asterix tells how, after taking a menhir on the head, Panoramix loses his memory, and by extension the recipe for the magic potion. Vulnerable, the Gallic village is forced to accept the traditional “battle of the chiefs”: Abraracourcix must face his rival, Aplusbégalix. In the event of defeat, the Romans would take control of the village. The mini-series, produced by Netflix, finally reveals its trailer.

We knew that The Battle of the Leaders would take the form ofa series of 5 episodes, approximately 30 minutes each. If the trailer mainly presents the beginning of the events of the comic rather faithfully, this stretching will allow Alain Chabat to add new characters and adventures into the mix.
In any case, in the legacy of the animated films of Alexandre Astier and Louis Clichy, The Battle of the Leaders sports an exciting 3D style, which does not hesitate to draw on pure comic book codes (the onomatopoeia which appear on the screen). But it’s especially the vocal casting that makes you dream. Chabat was originally only supposed to play Asterix temporarily, to help the animators move forward on the project, before he retained the role.
Gilles Lellouche accompanies him as Obélixwhile Grégoire Ludig and Laurent Lafitte respectively lend their voices to Abraracourcix and Julius Caesar. And as we can hear at the very beginning of this trailer, Jérôme Commandeur will play… the mother of the emperor. Just that.
On the other hand, we still don't know precisely when we will be able to jump on the series. Asterix & Obelix: The Battle of the Leaders does not yet have a release date, other than first half of 2025.
