10 unintentionally funny films that made history

It sometimes happens that certain films become, in spite of themselves, rather funny. Apparently serious films that turn into potential nonsense. Of Batman & Robin has The Roomhere are 10 films that are unintentionally funny.

10) Batman

Yes we are a little harsh. Because obviously the film Batman of 1967 is from another time. However, when the film Leslie H. Martinson released in cinemas, it is destined to be very serious. Except that at the time, comics were very childish works. These are productions for children, and therefore, the first series Batman and the resulting film with Adam West are necessarily in the same tone. But when we look Batman today, we are dealing with a nanar in power. Whether it's Batman running around with a bomb over his head and saving ducks, the anti-shark bat sprayor Bruce Wayne's lunar deduction to unmask The Penguin, Batman full of absolutely lunar momentsand is more similar to stoner movie than a superhero movie. We leave you this little extract just for fun:

9) Jason

It's sometimes difficult to know if Jason X is first degree or if it is an assumed nanar. Directed by Jim Isaac in 2001, Jason X is the most deranged opus of the license Friday the 13th. At the same time, from the starting pitch, we know we're going to have a good time. In this episode, Jason Vorhees is awakened in the future. Inside a spaceship, Jason will terrify a crew of nymphomaniac teenagers. Always with a very serious tone, the film nevertheless features great moments of comedy through generous killingstotally stupid characters, a sexy leather android, and special effects worthy of the PS1. SO, second degree film or involuntary nonsense, we'll let you decide.

8) Ghost Rider

To the base, Ghost Rider is supposed to be a very serious film. Directed by Mark Steven Johnson (to whom we also owe Daredevil), Ghost Rider is somewhere between the turnip and the nanar. Originally, it was supposed to be a classic superhero film, but in the face of the antics of Nicolas Cagetotally freewheeling, and questionable special effectswe wonder what we are looking at. Honestly how can we forget this totally lunar sequence where Ghost Rider eliminates a demon making wind with his chain… Everything is said…

7) Spawn

While we are still waiting for the remake with Jamie Foxx produced by Todd McFarlanewe can always update the version of 1997. Totally brainless film, Spawn is, despite himself, a huge babe. Initially, it is a dark, violent, mature proposition, in line with The Crow. Except that the result is quite different. Because of its stupid writing, its caricatured characters, its kitsch costumes and above all because of its filthy special effectsthe famous comic book character is here, despite himself, made a complete mockery. At least we laugh a little.

6) Mortal Kombat

At the same time, with Paul W.S. Anderson upon completion, we know what to expect. In fact, most of his films are unintentional screw-ups. Event Horizon (1997), Soldier (1998), Alien vs Predator (2004), Resident Evil : Afterlife 3D (2010) or even The Three Musketeers (2011), are all funny films despite themselves. But we decided to choose Mortal Kombatthis adventure film that breathes the 1990s. At the same time we are witnessing a totally WTF film, with dated special effects, and a Christophe Lambert freewheeling. Nothing but his weird and communicative laugh made of Mortal Kombat a lame video game adaptation and I totally don't care.

5) Super Mario Bros

Before the animated film lluminationwe had the right to this live-action adaptation. Taken by Bob Hoskins et Dennis Hopper, Super Mario Bros was a very serious adaptation. But the offbeat special effects of the time, this underground city Gotham Cityand this tone which recalls Who wants Roger Rabbit's skin? make this Super Mario a unintentional comedy. But we still have a little nostalgic sympathy for this film and for this era.

4) Jaws 4: Revenge

To the base, Jaws, it is still a huge piece of the horror cinema. But, while Steven Spielberg left for other horizons, Universal decides to exploit Jaws to make it a franchise. Except that each subsequent episode is more embarrassing than the previous one. So obviously, when we get to episode 4, nothing is going right. Bad special effects, bad characters, bad dialogueridiculous shark, The Jaws 4 doesn't have much of a horror film anymore. Paradoxically more kitsch than its predecessors, the feature film no longer has anything credible. And the trauma of the music of John Williams becomes a Nanardesque stroll.

3) Batman & Robin

Second Batman from the top. After having already disappointed fans with Batman Foreverthe filmmaker Joel Schumacher goes all out with Batman & Robin. Taken by George Clooneyit's still the worst film today Batman of all time. A botched script, failed action scenes, cardboard sets, bright kitsch colors, poorly crafted costumes, stupid dialogues, heartbreaking punchlines, caricatured characters, constantly overacting actors, but above all a cartoon universe in total disagreement with that of Batman. This Batman & Robin is a total failure, which fills its spectator with astonishment. Ridicule doesn't kill but it still hurts a lot. And then how forgot nipple sequence…

2) Dragonball Evolution

Probably the worst manga adaptation of all time Dragonball Evolution. When Americans attack Japanese culture, it results in this infamous cinematic crap. A movie fans love to hatewhich has become a reference for what you absolutely should not do. A potential nanar in which San Goku has become a teenager without charisma, without identity, without interest. The fights, visually hideous, end up finishing off a spectator who no longer knows whether to laugh or cry.

1) The Room

The film of Tommy Wiseau is considered the worst feature film of all time. Obviously, you can always find worse. But The Room has had this reputation for many years now. The Tommy Wiseau story is totally crazy. We're not going to tell you everything here, but we recommend the excellent The Disaster Artist to learn more. Basically, Tommy Wiseau wanted to break through to Hollywood as an actor. Very bad actor, he gets rejected from all the castings. He then decided to produce and direct his own film: The Room. He then imagines a languorous romantic drama in which he plays the leading role. Just the pitch alone sets the tone: “Madly in love with his fiancée, Lisa, Johnny does not realize that she is unhappy…”. Obviously, The Room is a potential turnip. But we don't know by what magic, fans grabbed hold of The Roomwhich has become over time, the quintessential nanar. The seedy dialogues that all start with « hi mark », the non-existent staging, the settings worthy of a bad sitcom, the awkward sex scenes, and the lack of know-how from Tommy Wiseau make The Room the most unintentionally funny serious film in history.
