Attack on Titan is back in theaters

If the very last chapter of Attack on Titan appeared in 2021, fans were able to really say goodbye to Hajime Isayama's work last year, with the broadcast of the final episode of the anime. But recently, Japanese spectators were treated to a new adaptation, an animated film shown in cinemas. Called The Last Attack, this film is a compilation of the last two episodes produced by MAPPA, enriched and magnified. Directed by Yuichiro Hayashi who already worked on the last season of the anime, The Last Attack was written by Hiroshi Seko (Attack on Titan, Dorohedoro, Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man). Released in Japan on November 8, The Last Attack has not yet reached us. But the situation is about to change. Sony Pictures Entertainment and Crunchyroll have announced that the film will be released in theaters next year.

The end, the real one

The exact release date has not yet been communicated, but Crunchyroll spoke of an “early 2025” release. We are therefore banking on a winter outing at best. That being said, we should not expect to discover a film that completely changes the ending of the work. We know that Isayama himself has some regrets about the end of his manga, while some fans expressed their disappointment at the publication of the final chapter, or even at the broadcast of the latest episodes of the anime. With The Last Attack, spectators will have the opportunity to experience the finale of the anime in theaters, in the best conditions, with a few changes. Still, this is undoubtedly the final opportunity to say goodbye to Eren, Armin and Mikasa.
