A few days before its theatrical release, The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim unveils eight minutes of never-before-seen footage.
The animated film The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim will take place 183 years before the events of Peter Jackson's films. This animated prequel will explore the story of King Helm Hammerhand, a legendary figure of Rohan, whose courage and warrior exploits forever marked the destiny of this region. To the point that its name was given to the Chasm (of Helm, therefore) where the deadly confrontation took place which pitted the forces of Rohan against the hordes of Uruk-Hai of Saruman in The Two Towers (the book and the film).
Directed by Kenji Kamiyama (Blade Runner: Black Lotus, Cyborg 009), the film is part of a desire by Warner Bros. to multiply films and series Lord of the Rings. Reassuring point for the animated film, the cult illustrators Alan Lee and John Howe, already involved in Peter Jackson's trilogy, but above all official illustrators of Tolkien's books, are part of the projectwhich makes a great moral and artistic endorsement.
After revealing several magnificent images for The Rohirrim Warand an epic trailer for the animated film from Lord of the RingsWarner Bros. just put online a new trailer of more than 8 minutes, presenting never-before-seen sequences from Kenji Kamiyama's film.
Lord of the Rings
The eight minutes revealed on YouTube pose a twilight atmosphere, and explain how King Helm Hammerhand, (voiced by Brian Cox) acquired the reputation of an almost superhuman warrior.
If the film should have at its heart the war which pitted the forces of Hammerhand, led by Helm's daughter Hera (Gaia Wise) against the Dunlendings led by Lord Wulf (Luke Pasqualino), this trailer preferred to focus about the events that led to the transfer of power between Helm and Hera.
Carried by the original soundtrack by Stephen Gallagher (the trilogy of Hobbit), the long trailer seems to show that The Rohirrim War will endeavor to put humans at the heart of the equation of Lord of the Ringssomething quite rare in Tolkien's mythology (no elves or dwarves on the horizon at the moment).
As with the previous trailer, we can see that Kenji Kamiyama's style is immediately recognizable, and the semi-realistic artistic direction seems to hit the mark. However, once again, we remain quite cautious about the quality of the animation, which sometimes seems shaky. When we come out of watchingArcane or that of the visual delusions of Spider-Man : Across the Spider-Verseall that stings the eyes a little.
It remains to resolve the real enigma of The Rohirrim War : does the public of Lord of the Rings will travel to the theaters to see an animated film? The first answers will come in the days to come, since The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim will be released in French cinemas on December 11, 2024.
