Chu's magical blockbuster is the adaptation of the musical Wickeditself an adaptation of the novel Wicked: The True Story of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire, which is none other than a prequel to the Wizard of Oz by Lyman Frank Baum. So, superheroes aren't the only experts when it comes to derivative works! So, what is your program in these first days of December? Wicked follows the journey of the legendary witches of the world of Oz. Cynthia Erivo plays Elphaba, a young woman misunderstood because of the unusual color of her green skin who does not even suspect the extent of her powers. At her side, global pop superstar Ariana Grande plays Glinda who, as popular as she is privileged, does not yet know the true nature of her heart. Their meeting at Shiz University, in the fantastical world of Oz, marks the beginning of an unlikely but deep friendship. However, their relationship with The Wizard of Oz will undermine this friendship and see their paths drift apart. While Glinda, thirsty for popularity, allows herself to be seduced by power, Elphaba's determination to remain true to herself and those around her will have consequences as unfortunate as they are unexpected.
