Disney's Little Alien Sows Chaos in First Teaser for Live-Action Remake

The live action remake of Lilo & Stitch from Disney has just been revealed in a teaser presenting its little blue creature sowing (small) chaos.

Disney and its penchant for adapting its animated works into live-action films has a long history. Since 1994 with the Jungle Book by Stephen Sommers with Jason Scott Lee, then with the 101 et 102 DalmatiansMickey Mouse Clubhouse has shown its desire to establish itself on the live action cinema market with its live-action remakes

The pace accelerated in the 2010s, with Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Dumbo… On paper we can question the interest of these live remakes, but the box office speaks for itself. Beauty and the Beast passed the billion dollar mark in global box office revenue, Aladdin was a huge commercial success, just like the lion kingwhich was a huge success.

These box office performances will only have encouraged Disney to continue on this path. The next step (victim?) of this live adaptation strategy is Lilo & Stitchremake of the eponymous cartoon released in 2002. After a trailer broadcast exclusively during the D23 2024 convention, Disney has just released a first official teaser for the live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch.

Lilo & Stitch a fashion Kaiju miniature

The short teaser of around thirty seconds takes up one of the scenes from the 2002 cartoon, in which Stitch assembled a pseudo city setting in Lilo's room using the little girl's toys, before destroying everything like a mini Godzilla. In the trailer for the live remake, the little blue alien reenacts the scene, but this time on a beach surrounded by sandcastles.

As is the Disney method of porting its cartoons into live versions, the original scenario will be altered very little. Thus we will follow the story of young Lilo, who, after losing her parents, must live with her sister Nani. Cohabitation does not go well, and Lilo slowly sinks. But everything will change when the alien creature Stitch crashes on Earth, and Lilo and the alien build a strong friendship.

Ready to sell thousands of stuffed animals

Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, to whom we owe Marcel the shell (with his shoes)the 2025 version of Lilo & Stitch will grant the role of Lilo to Maia Kealoha. Alongside him, we will find Tia Carrere, Zach Galifianakis, Sydney Elizabeth Agudong and Billy Magnussen. Note that it is Chris Sanders, director of the original cartoon, who will once again lend his voice to Stitch.

After Lilo & StitchDisney already has a long list of live-action remakes of cartoons in its catalog. In 2025, we will also discover Snow White by Marc Webb a few months before (March 19 precisely) then, in the years to come, Hercule by Guy Ritchie, Aladdin 2 et The Jungle Book 2, Merlin the enchanter, Robin Hood, Bambi, The Aristocats and even Basil, private detective. On the other hand, Taram and the magic cauldron seems destined to stay in the back of the cupboard.

Le remake live de Lilo & Stitch will be released for the very strategic Memorial Day 2025 weekend in the United States, i.e. May 26, 2025. The film will arrive in French cinemas on May 21, 2025.
