In December, Sony Pictures will offer Kraven the Hunter, a new film in its Spider-Verse: here is a few minutes of new making-of.

A massacre from the start

We won't teach you anything if we tell you that the MCU has made everyone want expanded universes, including Sony Pictures which, after all, owns the juicy rights to one of the most popular superheroes. most appreciated (and profitable) in history: Spider-Man. The idea then came to the firm to create the Spider-Verse, a world which would revolve around the Spider's emblematic adversaries… without the latter appearing however.leading to the public's hope of seeing her one day.

Not only has that day still not come, but this extended universe is known for a series of critical cataclysms. Venom first of his name will have laid the first stone : despite the heavily criticized treatment of the supervillain, the film will be a huge commercial success with 856 million dollars. Enough to encourage making a sequel, Venom Let Be There Carnage ($506 million), with an average of 49% on Metacritic.

For the rest, the fiasco is almost total. Morbius, starring Jared Leto, is considered one of the worst films of its year (35% on Metacritic as well as a commercial flop), just like Madame Web this year, only 26% on Metacritic and a box score- office even weaker. As for Venom The Final Dance which has just been released in theaters, the same story with a score of 41%, but nevertheless the threshold of 400 million dollars garnered a few days ago.

Next stop: Kraven

Sony nevertheless does not stop, regardless of the nauseating reviews and the dirty reputation of its universe: after all, the hope of finally having a good surprise remains and the next step is called Kraven the Hunter, here played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson. An R-Rated film, therefore with obvious brutal and graphic violence, which promises a slightly more bloodthirsty experience than the very neutral Venom, to name but a few.

Sony has in any case just published a six-minute making-of, in which Taylor-Johnson talks to the camera about playing such a supervillain on screen. He is not alone since we can see the comments of JC Chandor, director of the feature film. We'll let you watch all this in the video above, reminding you the cinema release date, set for December 18, 2024.
