A first trailer for Dragonsthe live-action remake of DreamWorks’ now cult animated film, has leaked onto the Internet.
In 2025, the fever for live-action remakes will still not have subsided, but for once, Disney will not be the only studio to blame since DreamWorks has also caught the virus. In addition to Lilo & Stitch et Snow White, the franchise Dragons will also be back in the flesh (and in CGI)still with Dean DeBlois writing and directing.
Nobody asked for it and it seems above all like a desperate attempt to replenish the coffers after several failures or lukewarm results at the box office. After all, The Jungle Book has well exceeded $950 million in revenue. Aladdin has for its part exceeded one billion and The Lion King a billion and a half. And since the studio has not managed to bring new franchises since Dragonsit almost seemed logical that the studio would first focus on this title.
For the occasion, Dean DeBlois will return to script and direct after having overseen the animated trilogy. On the casting side, Gerard Butler will reprise the role of Stoik, the village chief whom he previously voiced. On the other hand, the entire teenage cast has been redone, due to age differences. Harold, the protagonist, will therefore be played by Mason Thames (discovered at the cinema in The Black Phone). It is also these two characters who were revealed in the first trailer for the film which recently leaked on the Internet.
HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON
Without being fundamentally repulsive, this first trailer (which has therefore not yet been officially shared) promises a priori a simple dull and sad copy and paste of the 2010 filmin the vein of Aladdin, Lion King and other photocopies which have not taken the risk of deviating too much from their original material.
The trailer includes, among other things, the scene of the meeting between Hiccup and Toothless, already present in the trailer for Dragons (the real one), but with a tone much more serious than comic. As for the Night Fury, it keeps the same rounded and cartoonish design, like the other species that we see briefly. It is therefore difficult to predict anything other thanyet another repetition too wise to annoy or satisfy.
For the rest of the cast, Nico Parker will play Astrid after participating in the remake of Dumbo and the adaptation of The Last of Us sur Prime Video. Julian Dennison will play Fishlegs, Gabriel Howell will take over the role of Snotlout while the terrible twins will be played by Bronwyn James (Lockwood & Co) and Harry Trevaldwyn (The Bubble).
