Watch this weekend: “Disclaimer” (Apple +)

(By Léa Bitton)
A journalist built her notoriety by exposing the transgressions of others. Upon receiving a novel from an anonymous author, Catherine Ravenscroft (played by the excellent Cate Blanchett) is horrified to realize that she is now the main character in a story that exposes her darkest secret…

If the first episodes of the series are reminiscent of Nicole Kidman's latest erotic film “Babygirl” with its crude sexual scenes, a fabulous twist makes “Disclaimer” evolve into a gripping thriller.

With this new seven-episode mini-series, Alfonso Cuarón marks his return behind the camera. The Oscar-winning Mexican director – to whom we owe notably “The Sons of Man” and “Gravity” – had not filmed anything since his feature film “Roma” in 2018.

Bloodless staff, overloaded emergencies, technocracy which combines a glaring lack of resources with absolute cynicism: in this third season, still written and produced by him, Thomas Lilti describes a post-covid French hospital with the air of Titanic. The observation is implacable, the demonstration hyperrealistic. In the midst of the shipwreck, a handful of caregivers see their humanism undermined by the violence of their daily lives.

Impeccable in white coats, Bouli Lanners, Louise Bourgoin, Alice Belaïdi and Karim Leklou then try to stand up against the established order. Is rebelling also healing? Response in six high-tension episodes… “Hippocrates”, public utility series.

To take in class: “The spies of terror” (M6 +)

(By Émilie Cabot)
We must spot them, identify them and do everything to neutralize them. All the while living with the anguish – and guilt if that’s the case – that at any moment a large-scale massacre could happen again.

Adapted from the book of the same name by journalist Matthieu Suc, the mini-series “The Spies of Terror” takes us to November 2015, after the attacks which bloodied and Saint-Denis, as close as possible to the services of the DGSI (Directorate General Directorate of Internal Security) and the DGSE (Directorate General of External Security). We follow the daily lives of Lucie (Fleur Geffrier), Malika (Rachida Brakni), Vincent (Vincent Elbaz) and the others who carried out this high-tension investigation between 2015 and 2016.

From the explosion of the attacks of November 13 to the pervasive pursuit, in and internationally, which has damaged their personal lives and even their health. And if that wasn't enough in terms of tension, we also had to juggle rivalries between services, a classic.

Pierre Perrier and Fleur Geffrier play Alex and Lucie.

The last two episodes are broadcast on November 19 on M6. The first two can be caught up on M6 +

Mark your calendars: soon a series on Jérôme Kerviel

It is one of the biggest financial deals of the 21st century. In January 2008, Société Générale, a French behemoth, announced an abysmal loss of 4.9 billion euros which it attributed to the actions of a young, hitherto unknown trader: Jérôme Kerviel. A documentary series on the subject will be broadcast on the Max platform from November 29.

In “Kerviel: A trader, 50 billion”, documentary series in 4 episodes of 45 minutes, Jérôme Kerviel himself, some of his relatives and advisors and several former employees and managers of Société Générale as well as judicial and political figures, such as François Hollande, will intervene to shed light on this most complex affair.

Also coming: “Dune” adapted into series

After the cinema, “Dune” is now a series. See you on November 18 in France (the day before in the United States) to discover “Dune: Prophecy” on the Max platform. It is a prequel which takes place 10,000 years before the odyssey of Paul Atréides (the character played by Timothée Chalamet in the cinematographic saga). The series is adapted from “The Sisterhood” novel by Brian Herbert (son of Frank Herbert, writer-creator of the “Dune” saga) and Kevin J. Anderson. We focus on the matriarchal community at the origins of the order of the Bene Gesserit, these shadow advisors with supernatural powers.
