Hello everyone,

According to Variety (reliable source), Simon Kinberg has been hired by Lucasfilm to write and produce a new trilogy! The man is best known for his work as a screenwriter and producer for several films X-Men but also for his writing work on the Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr or on Mr et Mrs Smith.

Note that Kinberg is unknown to the Star Wars galaxy since he simply participated in the creation of the series Star Wars : Rebels !

The article specifies that this trilogy would take place after the postlogy with new main characters. The details of the story are obviously not known at this time but it seems that several sources disagree as to whether or not it is a continuation of the Skywalker saga or a new trilogy, detached from the stay.

Is this an evolution of the film project with Rey whose screenwriter has just left the project? We don’t know either, but the Variety article seems to claim that this project, led by director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms. Marvel), remains relevant “on its side”.

Remember that other trilogies have already been announced in the past without giving tangible results. The famous duo behind the adaptation of Game Of Thrones on David Benioff and DB Weiss or even Rian Johnson (The Last Jedi(s)) had to take care of their own trilogies!

Thus, it is always important to remember that this type of information/rumors should not be taken as the certainty of the start of a new trilogy which will necessarily be brought to the screen by Kinberg. Indeed, maybe the latter will go through to the end, maybe not, maybe Lucasfilm and Disney are starting several projects in parallel to test ideas, keep some, throw others away, or all of them. , reflecting on the cinematic future of the saga, etc.

Stay tuned to SWU to be informed of details and information surrounding what is currently only a rumor!

We talk about it on the dedicated forum to find below!
