A journalist who investigates, camera in hand, the abuses of an isolated asylum in the forest with supernatural overtones? No doubt, Lionsgate has sniffed out the ideal pitch for found footage. The movie Outlast has not yet specified its synopsis, but will benefit from the experience of writer JT Petty, who has overseen the franchise since the first episode (he also created Sam Fisher for Splinter Cell, but there is no connection, it's just cool).
As for Lionsgate, the company commissions distinguished producer Roy Lee (That, Barbarian, Late Night with the Devil) to oversee the adaptation ofOutlast. « WhenOutlast was launched in 2013, it changed the panorama of horror games, setting a new standard of immersion in the genre », Enthuses the producer. “ The depth and emergence of its lore provided a perfect foundation for creating a film that delves into the psychological and physical horrors at the heart of the franchise. I can’t wait to bring this unique world to life for both new viewers and die-hard fans of the series.” »
« As die-hard fans of horror in all media, Red Barrels admire the work of Roy Lee and Lionsgate. Our franchise has undoubtedly been inspired by horror films, old and new, and finding the opportunity to collaborate on a film Outlast with horror legends is a dream – or rather, a nightmare – come true », agrees creative director David Chateauneuf. Lionsgate is particularly known for its franchises Saw, Insidious, Hostel or Sinister
Incidentally, Red Barrels informs us that the franchise Outlast today totals 37 million players.
