Could we be close to a return of The Scarlet Witch in the MCU? It is rumored that Wanda Maximoff could make her return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in her own film. A movie Scarlet Witch which could also bring back this iconic villain.
Where is The Scarlet Witch?
We didn’t see again The Scarlet Witch since Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022). The character played by Elizabeth Olsen from the post-credits scene of Captain America: The Winter Soldier had a somewhat unusual trajectory. She begins in the MCU as an ally of Ultron, before changing his mind and supporting the Avengers. Then, the events of Captain America : Civil War make her doubt. She is seen as a threat by some of her teammates. Then, the death of Vision in Infinity War causes her to fall into deep depression and madness. In WandaVision, she decides to modify reality in order to live an idyllic life with Vision and his two children: Bill and Tommy.
Finally, in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness she becomes a threat to the time continuum and the multiverse themselves. It is Dr. Strange who sees himself obliged to stop the actions of The Scarlet Witch. The latter makes amends at the very end of the film when she decides to sacrifice herself to destroy the Darkhold. From, The Scarlet Witch is officially dead in the MCU. But many fans find it difficult to accept such a reality, and many believe that she is still alive, hiding somewhere, far from all the hustle and bustle of the supers.
Un film Scarlet Witch ?
Many rumors surrounding a film Scarlet Witch come out regularly on the internet. Many fans would like The Scarlet Witch to return in her own film. And, it is rumored that such a project would be in the pipeline for Marvel Studios. According to the scooper MTTSHthe project would already be in talks, and could be released during 2026. The scenario would have been entrusted to Jac Schaeffer et Megan McDonnellthe screenwriters of WandaVision and of Agatha All Along.
Always according to MTTSH, what a movie Scarlet Witch would also allow a return of Agatha Harkness. The character played by Kathryn Hahn is currently the focus of the series Agatha All Along. A show which makes numerous references to Wanda without including her in the plot. The movie Scarlet Witch would therefore make it possible to stage the return match between the two witches. If the film Scarlet Witch were actually to be produced, the plot would surely incorporate Billy et TommyWanda’s two children. Especially since Billy, aka Wiccan, plays a central role in Agatha All Along. All this still remains rumor.
