It took 2 films for a universe that was almost 60 years old to come back to the forefront. Since the excellent feature films of Denis Villeneuve, the work of science fiction Dune is entitled to multiple derivatives: video games, board games, and soon a TV series. Revealed last May in a powerful trailer, Dune: Prophecy visibly promises settings and staging to match the book from which it is adapted, The Community of Sisters de Brian Herbert.
The action is happening 10,000 years before the birth of Paul Atreideshero of the “main” saga. During the 6 episodes, we will follow the order Well donethen born, through the eyes of two sisters from the Maison Harkonnen. This will also be an opportunity to learn more about the origins of conflict between Harkonnen and Atreideswhich still persists centuries later. The icing on the cake: having read the books is not at all necessary to fully understand the plot. This is reassuring.
Here’s when the Dune: Prophecy series will air
In the second trailer for Dune: Prophecy, we can see what will surely be the main issue of the series taking shape. On the one hand, the Community of Sisters wants to act to, according to them, protect the Empire. On the other hand, a mysterious individual wants to eradicate the Bene Gesserit order from all the worlds on which it is present. A shadow war is looming and it will undoubtedly cause many victims.

The video does not forget to establish the very particular atmosphere of Herbert’s universe, mixing advanced technology and esotericism, through mystical rituals and obscure visions. Not to mention the very title of the series mentioning a prophecy.
Directed by Alison Schapker and starring Indira Varma (Rome, Obi-Wan Kenobi), Emily Watson (Breaking the Waves, Chernobyl), Travis Fimmel (Viking, Warcraft) and Mark Strong (Kingsman, Sherlock Holmes), the series Dune: Prophecy will be broadcast in France from November 18, 2024 on Max.
