After terrorizing the Marvel Universe in Infinity War et Endgamethe Mad Titan could make his return in Avengers 6alias Secret Wars.
Helped by the phenomenal success of a Deadpool 3 which continues to break box office records, Marvel has put its head back in the right place at the best of times, at the dawn of a decisive year 2025. The studio is currently in full preparation for its next two huge films, scheduled for 2026 and 2027.
Pour Avengers 5 et 6Marvel spent a fortune on the return of Robert Downey Jr. as the villain Doom. An astonishing decision, but one which confirms the desire to make full use of the concept of the multiverse, and not necessarily as we imagine. In addition to Robert Downey Jr., another well-known face from the MCU could make a return in Secret Wars.
Avengers 6 : Secret (Infinity) Wars
While everyone has their own theory on who will return (or not) in the next MCU diptych, the specialized media ComicBookMovie.com seems to have his own idea, announcing that Thanos would be there for Secret Wars. After being the big bad guy in the previous two films Avengersthe Mad Titan could therefore make his comeback.
In reality, the character never went very far, sincehe appeared in the animated series What If…? in 2021 and 2023with Josh Brolin still lending his voice. However, while a gigantic multiversal crossover seems to be looming, this news, if it is confirmed, is not insignificant. It remains to be seen what role the antagonist could have in this new opus.
Obviously, at the idea of seeing Thanos in a film where Doctor Doom will be the big bad, any good comic book fan will think of the epic confrontation between the two characters in the Secret Wars 2015. While Robert Downey Jr. will play Doom, after defeating Thanos as Iron Man in Avengers : Endgamea possible revenge is bound to make one curious.
Especially since, just like with the casting of RDJ as antagonist, Marvel could take advantage of this to have a little fun with Thanostreated as an ambiguous being convinced of his moral superiority in Avengers : Infinity War. From there to imagining him as an appropriate ally of the Avengers, there is only one step. At any rate, he should not blindly follow Doom in his fightpossibly by trying to make him fall from his throne.
Obviously, the news should be taken with a grain of salt. That said, it would make sense as the MCU tries by all means to cling to its former glories, including the additions as in Deadpool & Wolverine. Thanos, just like Iron Man and Captain America, is a very identified and recognized figure among the general publicand his return would be a small event.
We still don’t know much about Doomsday et Secret Warsbut it is likely that Marvel Prepares Biggest Cameo Show Ever on a big screen.
