“Terrifier 3”: prohibited for minors, the horror film is a hit

Already released in , “Terrifier 3” is enjoying its small success in cinemas.

The trashy horror film “Terrifier 3” has been banned for minors from theaters, a very rare decision. Which does not prevent spectators from going there in numbers and placing it at the top of the box office. The film was released in France this Wednesday and is enjoying its small success. In Belgium, the feature film will be released on October 23.

As La Voix du recalls, the French Classification Commission decided to ban it for those under 18, a rare decision for non-pornographic films. The last time was in 2006, for Saw 3. In a press release, producers ESC Éditions, Shadowz Films and Factoris Films, denounced “a serious decision with a worrying message, isolating the authors by distancing them from their audience”.

According to ESC Éditions, this Thursday, 45,000 spectators went to see the film, or 357 spectators per theater on average. The feature film, however, underwent limited theatrical distribution. According to Comscore movies France and BFMTV, this score places it at the top of the French box office this Friday, ahead of big releases like Lee Miller or Le Robot Sauvage. For comparison, Terrifier 2 attracted 4,234 spectators on its first day.

The level of gore in Terrifier is particularly high (children killed, characters scalped, enucleated, dismembered, burned, etc.). During preview screenings, the director told the specialist site Bloody Disgusting that he had “witnessed some completely crazy scenes”: “ One woman got up and left in the middle of the shower massacre. Another woman left the screening saying she started having a panic attack during a scene involving children… »
