Arriving on Netflix on October 4, Platform 2 quickly became number 1 on the top Netflix list. Highly anticipated, it met with success… but is it enough for a third part? The director gave some ideas.
Four years after the first part, Platform 2 entered the Netflix catalog on October 4. In just 24 hours, Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia’s film attracted many subscribers, to the point of taking first place in the top most viewed feature films of the moment. Viewers hoped to get answers to their questions with Platform 2. Indeed, the film released in 2020 left fans with several theories, doubts and questions. Here again, the conclusion of Platform 2 raises questions. After giving some explanations about his finale, the Spanish director reveals if a third part is planned to truly understand the universe of the pit.
Platform 2 : we explain the end of the film to you
What you need to know first Platform 2is that it is not a sequel, but a prequel! An element not communicated by Netflix before the release of the project. The events that occurred in this second part therefore took place before those of The platform. During the final sequence, we see Perempuán descending into the depths of the pit with a child. A scene which is reminiscent of that of the first film with Goreng. We then understand that Perempuán is dead, but also that she is Goreng’s ex-partner. The latter had decided to enter prison to overcome her guilt over the death of Goreng’s son.
A third part of The platform is it on the program? What would the film be about?
Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia gave an interview to the Spanish media Kitchenettes. Asked about his follow-up plans for The Platform, he reveals that “It doesn’t depend on him or Netflix, but on the reception that Platform 2 will receive.” “If the film works, we will have many possibilities to imagine a third: we will have to answer questions such as who, where, when and above all why or for what purpose the pit and the platform were created. We have some great ideas to close the loop and answer all the questions that currently arise” declares the filmmaker. Not sure that the public will be there, however: on social networks, Internet users have criticized a lot Platform 2, “the most disgusting film I have seen”.
