Legends of Autumn (1994) in 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray from December for its 30th anniversary

Let’s dive back into Montana, wild and untamed, at the beginning of the 20th century. Not the Montana of Hollywood westerns, but this majestic territory where nature, both beautiful and cruel, shapes destinies. It is in a vibrant and flamboyant setting that takes place Legends of Autumn (1994)a family drama tinged with lyricism and nostalgia and above all embodied by an incandescent Brad Pitt.

Here, memories flow like the turbulent waters of a flooded river. We move in and out of the lives of the Ludlows, a family united and torn apart by passions, war and the weight of destiny. Director Edward Zwick films nature as a character in its own right. The wide open spaces, rushing rivers, and lush green forests are enhanced by the work of cinematographer John Toll, who won an Oscar for his work on this film. And the late James Horner above all delivers one of his most moving scores, both grandiose and heartbreaking, like an echo of his tragic death.

It’s been 30 years since this film was released. And it’s about to be rediscovered for the first time on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray from Sony Pictures. A special 30th anniversary edition has just been made official in the USA with the confirmed presence of a supervised restoration in 4K (OCN scan) and Dolby Vision. An original version remixed in Dolby Atmos will be added to the previous 5.1 mix, presented in DTS-HD Master Audio.

We expect as a bonus:

  • Commentary with director Edward Zwick and Brad Pitt
  • Commentary with cinematographer John Toll and production designer Lilly Kilvert
  • 3 deleted scenes with director’s comments
  • Featurette “Making-of” originale
  • Production Design Featurette
  • Cinema trailer

We can expect an equivalent release in in the near future. Release currently scheduled across the Atlantic on December 3.
