Three years after the monumental cardboard of Batman, with Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson as the joker, Tim Burton is back for his sequel: Batman: The Challenge. A film in which the director ofEdward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas and Sleepy Hollow infuses it with all his art for strange creatures and gothic tales. Alongside Michael Keaton, also back in the Dark Knight, it is Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman, and the disturbing The Penguin (Danny Devito) who bursts the screen. Not enough, however, to ride on the success of its predecessor and its $400 million at the worldwide box office. What Warner will consider a semi-failure will mark the end of the filmmaker in the Batman universe. He will be replaced by Joel Schumacher.
