finally a trailer for the film Ballerina with Ana de Armas (and Keanu Reeves)

After being postponed several times, the spin-off of John Wick, Ballerinais finally revealed in a trailer carried by Ana de Armas.

In four films, John Wick not only established itself as a juicy franchise, but also as the return of a demanding methodology in the staging of action in Hollywood. Since then, the criminal universe carried by Keanu Reeves has developed with the series The Continentalbut above all we were waiting firmly Ballerina, spin-off of the saga with a hired killer dancer, played by Ana de Armas.

Problem, since its first announcements, the film has continued to be postponed. In February 2024, producer Chad Stahelski (director of the previous installments) announced that he wanted to rework the film and shoot new scenes, because Ballerina was not good enough to come out as planned. At the same time, no one had originally asked them to give the baby to Len Wiseman (known for Underworld, Die Hard 4or the rotten remake of Total Recall).

In any case, the Lionsgate studio (currently in trouble with the successive failures of Borderlands and of The Crow) really needs its flagship box office franchise, and has finally revealed the first trailer for Ballerina.

Ballerina: more than a sub-John Wick?

For those who forgot, John Wick: Parabellum showed the main character taking refuge with the Director, a trainer of assassins and ballerinas (because why not). During the film, we saw for a few seconds Rooney, a dancer determined to avenge the death of her father.

Ballerina will therefore take place between John Wick 3 And 4and will follow the vengeful quest of this new heroine. We knew since filming that Keanu Reeves would return as Baba Yaga for this spin-off, and the trailer makes it its beautiful final reveal. Furthermore, we will have the opportunity to meet again Ian McShane (Winston) and the late Lance Reddick (Charon), and to meet newcomers to the universe, like Norman Reedus.

Papa Yaga?

In any case, there are always neon lights, improbable kills, guns in all directions and weapons that are fun (a flamethrower versus a jet of water). After his too short role in Dying can waitAna de Armas seems to confirm her future in muscular action cinema.

In any case, we must admit that we are a bit reassured by the head of this little montage, but to form an opinion on the final result, we will have to wait June 4, 2025, French release date of Ballerina at the cinema.
