Internet users are panicking about a possible cancellation of Spider-Man : Beyond the Spider-VerseThe film crew therefore wanted to be reassuring.
After eight live-action films and two animated films, Hollywood Is Not About to Hang Up With Spider-Manthe spider-like superhero from Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. The Spider-Man 4 The MCU has found its director, while Sony continues to exploit the Spider-Man universe in its own way with its Spiderverse, which may one day have its own Spider-Man or an equivalent.
In the meantime, Sony can still count on the popularity of its Miles Morales and its dozens of animated Spider-Man and Spider-Woman films. Spider-Man: New Generation et Spider-Man : Across the Spider-Verse were great successes, and the next part, Spider-Man : Beyond the Spider-Verse is particularly expected (at least in the editorial office). But Rumors of cancellation have been appearing on social media for a few days, and the film’s crew has had to react.
Beyond the Spider-Verse: All is not lost, far from it
At the end of June 2023, after the triumph of Spider-Man : Across the Spider-Versea shadow has begun to hang over Sony with the scandal surrounding the extreme working conditions of the animation teams. Is this the cause, in addition to the strikes, of the accumulated delay for Spider-Man : Beyond the Spider-Verse ? Mystery. But in one of his newsletters, the often well-informed Jeff Sneider seemed to say that things were going badly for this third part.
According to him, the studio was starting over from scratch on certain elements (and thus canceling some supposedly finished ones). Worse, he claimed that the film would be delayed until 2027 at the earliest, due to this major creative and script overhaul. Inevitably, the rumor quickly grew (to the point of being exaggerated over the course of discussions on the networks). Faced with increasingly persistent questions from Internet users, Christopher Miller et Daniel Pembertonrespectively screenwriter/producer and composer of the franchise, then reacted.
So, to calm things down right away, Christopher Miller tweeted that “the reels were moving well »without further details and without mentioning the possible postponement until at least 2027. His tweet was in line with a tweet by Daniel Pemberton posted online shortly before, who explained with a bit of humor (and cynicism) that this rumor did not really make sense:
“I don’t really want to give my opinion on this kind of thing BUT would you believe me if I told you that it is possible to find rumors on the Internet that are not entirely accurate?”
A RUMOR IMPLIES GREAT RESPONSIBILITIES
Miller and Pemberton’s responses didn’t particularly please insider Jeff Sneider, who was largely offended that his work was taken lightly and that his information was sometimes distorted by the rest of the Internet. That said, since his clumsy and/or misinterpreted comments, Sneider himself apologized for his somewhat overly vigorous reactions to Miller and Pemberton, while affirming that he was eager to discover the film “regardless of its release date.”
At this point, The case is therefore closed before a new rumor or the officialization of any problem. However, it may be recalled that Spider-Man India voice actor Karan Soni had revealed in August that he and the other voice actors would begin work on the film in the coming months. This seemed to confirm that everything was going according to plan (which would go along with Miller and Pemberton’s predictions).
Now we are waiting for the official release date of this Spider-Man : Beyond the Spider-Verse. By then, Sony will have several films to keep fans of the Spider-Man universe and its villains waiting: Venom : The Last Dance will come out October 30 in theaters et Kraven The Hunter will come out December 18th at the cinema. With filming scheduled for early 2025, Spiderman 4 could be released at the end of 2025 or in 2026.
