The sun darts its burning rays onto the asphalt, a suffocating heat that sticks to the skin and makes the horizon tremble. Thelma et Louisetwo women locked in monotonous lives, hit the road for an explosive and desperate escape. Their improvised road trip, at the wheel of a turquoise Ford Thunderbird convertible, turns into a frantic race against the law, a journey of no return through the dizzying landscapes of the Grand Canyon.
Directed by Ridley Scott, Thelma et Louise (1991) goes far beyond the framework of a simple road movie. It erects a true mythology: that of revolt, of the rejection of a patriarchal and unjust society. With an essential original soundtrack by Hans Zimmer. And the good news is that a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray edition is coming soon to France.
After the release in 2023 of a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray edition by Criterion, Thelma et Louise (1991) is about to benefit from an equivalent version from BQHL Editions. The film has undergone a meticulous 4K restoration, supervised from a recent scan of the original negatives.
This Steelbook edition will include a 4K UHD Blu-ray disc, a Blu-ray of the film, previously unreleased bonus features and a 60-page booklet. Pre-orders are now open.
Expected release on February 27, 2025.
