the horror is revealed in the mysterious trailer for Apple +

Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller face Evil in the trailer for The GorgeApple + production directed by Scott Derrickson (Sinister, Black Phone).

Before being the director of the mediocre remake of the SF classic The Day the Earth Stood Still with Keanu Reeves and Marvel Doctor StrangeScott Derrickson is first a horror lover. He began his career by co-writing the amusing Urban Legend 2 then realizing Hellraiser 5 : Infernoperhaps one of the least worst sequels to the worst period of the saga. Then came The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Sinister et Deliver us from evil.

And when he left Doctor Strange 2 to be replaced by horror master Sam Raimi, he is returned to his first love with Black Phone. A very inspired idea since the success of the film (more than 161 million at the box office, for a budget of not even 20 million) led to the start of a sequel, which he also directed, and which will be released in October 2025.

No surprise then to see him stay in the sector with his eighth feature film, The Gorge. Announced in 2022, this mysterious thriller expected on Apple TV+ had already released big details some time ago, with an official synopsis accompanied by a few images. The trailer fortunately avoids showing too much, and mainly focuses on Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller, confronted with a nightmarish “thing”.

THROAT CUTTER

Written by Zach Dean (The Tomorrow War, Fast & Furious 10), The Gorge follows two snipers who are hired for a top secret mission: keep a throat deep and foggylost in the middle of nowhere. Posted on either side of the area, they are prohibited from communicating, and must simply ensure that what is hidden in this gorge will not come out.

Obviously, they will disobey and start sending each other messages from far away, in the equivalent of a romantic comedy (little smiles and abs plan available). And of course, they will quickly discover what is hidden in the corner when the gentleman accidentally falls into the gorge, and his colleague rushes to his aid. They will then have to survive in hostile territory, and that's all we expected.

Sleepy Hollow

Knowing that there is also Sigourney Weaver and Sope Dirisu (Gangs of London) au casting, The Gorge has it all. All that remains is to hope for two things: that the threat at the bottom of the throat is at the height of its mysteryand that the film holds up visually since the mist revealed in the trailer is a jaw-dropping bias that can transform into a digital hideout.

With cinematographer Dan Laustsen (Silent Hill, Nightmare Alley, The Shape of Waterthe last three John Wick), there are, however, reasons to believe it. And in any case, it will never be worse than Devil's Throatpathetic forgotten thriller with Sharon Stone and Dennis Quaid.

The Gorge will be released on Apple TV+ on February 14, 2025, perfect for beautifying Valentine's Day. And we're looking forward to it (the film, not Valentine's Day), knowing that there will be a double ration of Scott Derrickson next year, with Black Phone 2 at the cinema October 15.
