If you’ve always preferred Halloween to Christmas and find the cold of winter more like the breath of death than the warm glow of the fireplace, there’s a movie you should definitely go see when it comes out. The first reviews have just come in, and it looks exceptional.
What is Nosferatu, the horror film that will make you shiver at Christmas?
Even if you’re not the type to watch classic films or read books from the last century, you’ve probably already heard of Nosferatu. Originally, it was a film released in 1922, more than a hundred years ago. Considered one of the very first horror films, it was directed by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau and was heavily inspired by the novel Dracula. On Wednesday December 25, after opening their Christmas presents, cinema fans will be able to rush to the cinemas to discover the remake of this legendary film.
The new movie Nosferatu is this time produced by Robert Eggersknown to have already produced The Witch, The Lighthouse et The Northman. If it repeats more or less the same story, its casting should be one of the main arguments to attract a maximum number of spectators to theaters. In fact, we should see Bill Skarsgård in the role of Count Orlok, Nicholas Hoult in that of Thomas Hutter and Lily-Rose Depp in the role of Ellen Hutter. The characters of Friedrich and Anna Harding should be played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson et Emma Corrinwhile Willem Dafoe will also be there in the role of Professor Albin Eberhart Von Franz. Something to please all fans of vampire stories.
Nosferatu’s first returns are rave
Now that the release of Nosferatu is fast approaching, the first screenings have finally been able to take place for some of the international press. Enough to bring out some first opinions on this remake of a film more than a hundred years old, and suffice to say that they are more than positive. On Rotten TomatoesNosferatu currently offers a rating of 93% for the press, a real success.
Some reviews are particularly laudatory, such as that of Fangoria magazine, which considers that “Nosferatu is what a perfect classic horror film looks like”. The BBC, for its part, notes the attention paid by the film to the lore of vampires, whether in themes or in the photography. An observation shared by the New York Post which notes “a truly beautiful cast” with gothic faces that seem straight out of a celebration dedicated to Edgar Allan Poe. You will have understood, if you really like vampires and you prefer the style of Dracula to that of Edward Cullen, you risk having a very good time watching Nosferatu. To discover it in theaters, however, you will have to wait until Wednesday December 25.
