5. Absolution

Thriller by Hans Petter Moland. With Liam Neeson. Duration: 2 hours 02 minutes

What it says

A declining henchman embarks on one last mission while trying to win back his family…

What we think

Another ordinary film in which Liam Neeson loses his memory and struggles with difficulty. Nothing new then.

6. Save who can

Documentary by Alexe Poukine. Duration: 1 hour 38 minutes

What it says

On the one hand, there are these aspiring caregivers who, during false consultations, learn to develop how to address patients played by actors in the most human way. On the other, theatrical workshops during which nurses and doctors are invited to recount and reenact the most difficult moments of their respective careers. How can these two realities coexist in today’s hospital?

What we think

By confronting theory (showing empathy) and reality (that of a medical world which no longer has the leisure to “do things human”), Alexe Poukine succeeds in a shocking documentary, both in form and in the background. We come out a little groggy, scandalized too, by this striking observation: in 2024, health seems to have become a sector like any other, subject to market rules and the imperatives of profitability. And the nursing staff, often coming to him out of passion, are a bit like the cuckolds of the story.

7. No Other Land

Documentary by Basel Adra, Yuval Abraham, Rachel Szor, Hamdan Ballal. Duration: 1:35

What it says

Since adolescence, Basel, a Palestinian from the West Bank, has been filming the constant attacks of the Israeli occupation. From his meeting with Yuval, an Israeli journalist, an unexpected friendship is born with a common goal: freedom and equality.

What we think

An important work, cinematic as well as militant, which seeks to unite instead of divide.
