“Marmaille”, a 100% Reunionese drama filmed in Creole, makes its debut in French cinemas on Wednesday December 4. A poignant film by Grégory Lucilly.

Reunion Island generally conjures up images of idyllic beaches, walks on the side of a volcano… But the film Bratin theaters Wednesday December 4, brings us back to a completely different reality. That of two adolescents confronted with maternal disenchantment and abandonment. “I wanted to make a drama of family survival, a journey through this famous saying that we have in Reunion, which says ‘Hold on, don’t give up’”explains Grégory Lucilly, director of the feature film.

The hero transcends his rage through breakdancing. A first role for Maxime Calicharane, the young Reunion Islander who plays Thomas, from his moods to his most acrobatic figures: “What helped me find this rage was dancing”he confides. A 100% Reunionese film, shot in Creole. A unique outing in mainland France.
