Dtwo million entries in nine days: The Count of Monte Cristo is off to a flying start at the cinema. The film, adapted from the work of Alexandre Dumas, is directed by Alexandre de La Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte. The main character, Edmond Dantès, is played by Pierre Niney. The reviews were already (very) good before its release, exceptionally on a Friday, June 28, just before the Fête du Cinéma, which contributed to this dream start for the feature film. It had already passed the million admissions mark in less than five days.

The French blockbuster with a budget of 43 million euros tells the story of Edmond Dantès, who returns from the dead to take revenge on three men by taking on new identities. The film is in line with the Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan et Three Musketeers: Miladydirected by Martin Bourboulon and co-written by… Alexandre de La Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte. The first two installments of an announced trilogy had passed the 2 million admissions mark in just over two weeks.
