The Marvel Cinematic Universe is often talked about, whether for good by his fans or bad by his detractors. While last May, James Gunn spoke about a potential sequel to the excellent Guardians of the Galaxyit is interesting to take a critical look at this trilogy and realize that the talented filmmaker still removed from his films a major superhero who was very present in the comics.

This unloved superhero by James Gunn

When the first film of Guardians of the Galaxy was released, fans of the Marvel universe were generally very happy to have this breath of fresh air in the franchise. With a team of superheroes with offbeat humor and the IQ of a bay window, but alongside that a great quality of writing and production, we had a real space opera like we never had before. never seen before in the MCU. The two sequels were also very well received and rightly so. However, it is important to maintain a critical eye, even on works which have become monuments of the genre.

Although the James Gunn-led superhero feature trilogy is among the best films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's missing a very important character from the comics and that's a shame. Indeed, it is the superhero named Nova and created by screenwriter Marv Wolfman and artist John Buscema in 1976, which James Gunn excluded from his films. Luckily for us, the latter explained himself on Threads in response to a fan:

James Gunn just wanted one human on the Guardians of the Galaxy team and so it was Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord. If this removal of the character of Nova by the filmmaker may disappoint many fans, You should know that a series on the character is in preparation and Kevin Feige spoke last July on this subject.

Tell us in the comments section if you would have liked to see Nova in the films of Guardians of the Galaxy and don't miss discovering this actor in the saga who is now unrecognizable.
