Netflix begins its family programming for the end-of-year holidays this Friday, November 22 with the release of the animated film Ellian and the spell. Something to bewitch the whole family.
A wind of magic is blowing over the whole family among Netflix subscribers. December is not yet here and the streaming platform is already donning its most beautiful garlands. Indeed, in the top most watched films of the moment, there are no less than three Christmas films that we can find. The festivities first began with The Christmas meeting then the return of Santa & cie with Alain Chabat. Last weekend, Lacey Chabert, the undisputed queen of end-of-year TV movies, also made her return with My handsome snowman. More family friendly, Netflix now offers one of the animated films that will definitely be watched during long winter weekends or vacations: Ellian and the spell.
Ellian and the spell : a classic but effective animated film on Netflix
Are you struggling to find new ideas to get the whole family together in front of the television? Netflix has the solution. Produced by Skydance Animation, the studio already behind the charming Luck for Apple TV+, Ellian and the spell (Spellboundfrom its original title) turns out to be a very classic film, both in substance and in form, but effective. Princess Ellian is preparing to celebrate her fifteenth birthday but a shadow hangs over her morale and the good management of the kingdom: it has been a year since the king and queen were transformed into monsters. Determined to break the spell, Ellian embarks on an incredible quest, flanked by these astonishing parents. She then meets many creatures, sometimes strange, sometimes adorable, who will punctuate this adventure full of optimism and good feelings.
Ellian and the spell : back to basics to bewitch young and old
With bursts of colorful magic and song interludes for all the characters, Ellian and the spell is based on solid foundations of family animation, not without recalling very Disney codes. If the film still has the fault of not managing to create surprises and proves to be a little long, especially for the little ones (almost two hours of film), the whole thing is coated in joyful flights of fancy and a welcome humor that will soothe the hearts of young and old.
