Horror movie villains always come back, it's inevitable. Whether it's Michael Myers, Jason, Freddy, the Xenomorph or even sharks (in general), movie monsters have tough skin and don't want to die. And it's not just about veterans. The new kids and the newest villains are just as indestructible. All you have to do is look at James Wan's place.
We think of La Nonnefor example, already returned in a sequel in 2023. Or to Annabellethe creepy doll who made three returns to the cinema after her first appearance in Conjuring in 2013. The latter, however, has not been updated since 2019. But don't worry, because its Gen Z cousin, M3GAN, has already taken over in 2022 to keep the myth of the terrifying doll afloat. And for her too, one film was not enough… Despite the relative qualities of her first feature film (produced by James Wan), M3GAN goes like this inexorably return.

Is there going to be an M3GAN 2?
This is indeed the case and, apparently, it's no big surprise. From the start, M3GAN was designed to be the introduction of a new horror franchise by Blumhouse (Jason Blum's production house) and Universal Pictures would have been more than satisfied with the box office results of this first film. We are talking about more $178 million in revenue worldwide, for a budget of only 12 million. Now that's what we call a pretty box.
Thus, from January 2023, Deadline announces that a sequel, M3GAN 2.0is confirmed and with almost the same team as the first feature film. We don't change a winning recipe, we'll say. At least, not a recipe that earns money. It is therefore Gerard Johnstone (director of the first opus) who is announced to take over the controls on M3GAN 2.0which began filming in July 2024.
WHAT IS THE RELEASE DATE for M3GAN 2.0?
After announcing plans for a sequel, Universal scheduled M3GAN 2.0 to be released on January 17, 2025. Production experiencing a slight delay, the film will ultimately be first postponed to May 16, 2025 then to June 27, 2025as revealed by Deadline last May. Since then, this release date for the United States has not changed and should therefore be final until proven otherwise.
We do not know the official French release date, but we can still bet on June 25, 2025.
WHAT WILL M3GAN 2.0 BE ABOUT?
We still don't know anything about the synopsis of M3GAN 2.0except that its pernicious artificial intelligence will undoubtedly find a way to reincarnate in a more efficient robotic body and dangerous. If we refer to the return of part of the original cast, we can assume that it will not be a new plot with another toy who goes off the rails in another tormented family.
On the contrary, the history of M3GAN 2.0 should pick up where she left off. In the same way that slasher killers are very attached to their final girl, the M3GAN doll seems not to want to abandon her family and more specifically young Cady, her former owner. Some rumors also mention the appearance of another dollno less deadly, and which would push M3GAN to play it Terminator 2 while trying to protect Cady from it. But this should be taken with a grain of salt for now.
WHAT DO WE KNOW ABOUT THE M3GAN 2.0 CAST?

Among the newcomers, we can also count on the presence of the Ukrainian actress Ivanna Sakhno (Pacific Rim : Uprising, Ahsoka) and Jemaine Clement (Legion, Avatar 2).
WHERE WILL M3GAN 2.0 BE BROADCAST?
In all likelihood, M3GAN 2.0 will be waiting for us in cinemas from the day of its release. At least, this will certainly be the case in the United States, since there is already a release date. It remains to be seen what will happen for France… even if there should be no problem.
