37 years have passed since its release, but the first film in the saga Predatorreleased in 1987, is still considered one of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s best films. Even though the Hollywood star didn’t like the film and didn’t want to return in one of its sequels. However, from this first film about the fight for survival against a particularly dangerous space monster would be born a franchise of several films which continues today: five films in total, a new film in preparation and a series of crossovers with another of the most popular science fiction sagas in history.

The first film, with John McTiernan, is not only cult, but at the time, its budget was multiplied by six and it was even nominated for an Oscar for best special effects. Three years later, the first sequel, Predator 2 (1990), was released, but it would take a few decades for interest in the creature to be revived with the first Alien vs Predator.

A critical and box office failure

However, if Predators resisted criticism and criticism in 2010, the artistic and commercial low point of the saga was reached in 2018 with The Predator.
