the saga Star Wars started in 1977, quickly created a huge community of fans and became a true monument of the 7th Art over the years. However, despite its status and the very great qualities of this universe, George Lucas's very, very distant galaxy is not free of faults and more particularly of inconsistencies; that's why today we're looking at the six biggest of them.
Leia's Memories
In the third film of the original trilogy Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Luke asks his sister about their mother and asks Leia if she has any memories of herto which she responds:
When she died, I was very young. [J’ai] just pictures, some impressions. She was really very beautiful, sweet, but sad.
A statement which is very contradictory with the prelogy, knowing the events of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Indeed, Padmé Amidala dies giving birth to twins Luke and Leia, so the latter cannot remember her mother at all.
Darth Vader has Alzheimer's disease
When we see Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Backthere is one thing remarkable, it is the absence of memories that Darth Vader has of C3PO. Indeed, the Sith Lord does not recognize the droid even though he should recognize it. It was still young Anakin who gave life to this protocol droid, so it seems that Darth Vader does have Alzheimer's disease.
The memories of R2D2 and C3PO
Memory problems seem to be recurring in this distant universe. In the very first film of the saga released in cinemas Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope, our two friends R2D2 and C3PO do not even recognize Obi-Wan Kenobi when they meet himwhile they met him on numerous occasions during the prelogy. Certainly, it seems that the Force is able to create memory loss in the galaxy Star Wars.
Lightsaber fights
The choreographies of the lightsaber fights are among the biggest problems of the saga. Where the original trilogy offered us fights that were certainly already impressive for the time, the prelogy moved into a completely different dimension with duels, each more acrobatic than the last. However, this is a concern because we really have the impression that the level of mastery of the lightsaber has regressed and therefore lacks credibility.
C3PO has language problems
In Star Wars: Episode IV: A New HopeC3PO cannot understand jawas, even though he is supposed to speak more than 30 million languages. We are dealing with a droid who was programmed by young Skywalker on Tatooine and the latter forgot to program him to understand a language of his planet of origin? This is very unlikely and George Lucas creates a very regrettable concern for consistency.
Regressing technology
You have undoubtedly noticed the on-board computers of the ships in the saga and their regression between the prelogy and the original trilogy. We have excessive disparities probably due to the fact that the prelogy was produced almost 20 years apart, but the fact that it takes place well before the trilogy started in 1977 and that the technology seems more modern makes it very strange as a spectator.
If you think of other inconsistencies, don't hesitate to let us know in the comments and don't miss out on discovering this crazy idea that George Lucas gave up on Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon.
